Shooting a Glock 30 (.45 ACP) with a Lone Wolf Barrel.

Details:

- Shoots factory no problem, no issues.
- When I shoot my hand-loads the slide either wont go fully into battery or will get stuck after feeding a round, etc.
- These same reloads shoot fine with a Factory Glock barrel.
- My OAL is 1.26, Round Nose FMJ.

Anyone else have this problem with the Lone Wolf Barrels, would crimping help? Currently I have not been crimping them.

Thanks

You need to crimp. Lone wolf barrel has tighter chamber that stock glock barrel.

Lee Factory Crimp Die does wonders.

Also get a case gauge or if you are cheap just remove the barrel and use that as a case gauge.

Or just adjust your crimp on your reloading press. I bought a match barrel for my XD and it was very tight and required and shorter OAL and a tighter crimp but shot very well.

Good luck

By nature the "match" barrel is going to have a much tighter chamber!

I would suggest a Lee Factory Crimp Die, that will taper crimp, and size your ammo to ensure it chambers properly.

At the loading bench take your barrel and try dropping rounds into the chamber increasing crimp litle by little till they seat properly without force.

The OAL might also be an issue. Blacken the bullet with a match and see if it contacts the lands in the barrel when chambered.

Thanks guys, I tweaked the OAL a bit (down to 1.225) which is still above the safe min, and that seems to cycle and feed better. Wont know for sure until I hit the range again. Otherwise Crimp die will be on my Christmas list.

Let us know how it turns out.
I have had to use the FCD as a post seat sizer when using cast boolits to fix cycling issues
but to fix the cycling issue when using jacketed/plated; I had to reduce OAL to 1,155'' (200gn truncated)

By the way where did you get the barrel?

Hey Chemo,

I order the G30 and Barrel from Questar, took a while to come in (they imported it for me). It's the black oxide coated with no markings. Once I get the ammo tuned, I'm sure it will be a good shooter.

Some cast bullets have a shoulder that is further ahead than on FMJ's which can cause this issue. You may have to adjust OAL for a paticular design of bullet.
