I see that Chiappa makes chamber inserts for 20 ga in several different pistol calibers including .357 mag but the longest one they have is 7.5 inches.

Has anyone here made a longer one like 18-20 inches to get the most out of it?

I have a few of the Savage model 24 guns and would be interested in expanding how I can use them. The dream would be a 20 inch .357 mag in my campers special shooting a 200 gr cast. You could also load them much longer OAL than you could for a wheel gun. I see handgun loads shooting 200 gr at 1300 fps from a 7.5 inch barrel, what could you get from more powder capacity, longer OAL, in a 20 inch barrel? My concern is what pressure can my camper take vs my 24v (.222 & 20 ga).

I have a lathe (Harrison 11 inch, I reload for .357 and cast 200 gr. for my 35 Rem.) I am almost ready to start looking for a .35 barrel blank, or a barrel with good rifling w/ damaged threads or surface rust etc. to

Interesting site. Unfortunately no stock for 20 ga. 357. They first state their inserts are 1-12 or 1-18 twist and then advertise 1-16 for the 18 inch. They suggest putting your gun in a vise for the first shot to make sure it can withstand the pressure, not one of their best moments. They put various numbers of o-rings at differing locations, almost random. Good examples of how they cut away the insert “rim” to clear the extractor and relieve areas to allow pulling the brass out of the insert.

Please post a range report on fitment in your shotgun and accuracy including any different ammo used.

The warning is straight up from chazel web site. Which is an American company, you'll have Jim Bob trying to use an adapter in his great grandfathers wall hanger and blowing himself up. Not all shotguns are created equal, some have bigger firing pins that can lead to pierce primers. Hence why they say to test.

You don't need to cut the adapter if you want to leave it in. Just remove the extractor spring. But reason why they say that, if people want to tune their POI. By rotating the adapter and once you find your spot. You can mark and file for the extractor to skip. Or just remove the spring if you want to leave it in.

O rings are for better fitment. All the adapters I ever used had multiple o rings to insure they center, even gaugemate.

I have a H&R SB1 and it's meant for handi rifle so it has a much smaller firing pin.

The key word here is adapters...designed to make a firearms..... fire, something it wasn't design to shoot....so a little fiddling around maybe be need, more so, for some shotguns, then others.
I had the Chiappa adapters...full set, very nice...but they wouldn't even fit in my barrel! Not the manufacturer problem...or the guns problem....just the way it was...
That said, I have a savage model 24 in 22mag and 410.....and I can tell ya, a 44mag works very well in the 410 chamber!. That said...it's the older model, with the full welded one piece barrel.

Yeah, there is a very wide variety of dimensions in shotgun bores.

When cutting out chokes or installing screw ins, i have to make new bushings almost everytime.
