Long Action Tikka T3 Chassis options

I'm putting plans together to have my 300wm T3x rebarreled into 7mm PRC. I want to change the factory stock to more of a hunting Chassis type stock but it seems that lots of manufacturers only make these for "short action calibers".

I specifically like the MDT XRS or KRG Bravo.

Are there any other stock options that are similar style and function that I can run on a long action cartridge

All TIKKA T 3 actions are the same lenght action whether it’s a 222 or 300 win mag ! The internal lenght of the mag and the bolt stop are the changes to the CARTRIDGE length . The floor plate length is also the same . You Would need long CARTRIDGE mags and a long cartridge bolt stop to change over to a 7 PRC if you had a WSM . But you have a 300 WMag so you’re all Good . Hope this HELPS. you . RJ

What RJ said, all tikka actions are same length however you will notice when you order a chassis for them you can pick Long Action or Short Action, thats just for the mag well on the chassis.

MDT XRS would be my pick of your 2 options.

Another option would be looking into an AG Composites or Manners stock and running the AICS bottom metal to allow you to run the AICS mags.

OR check out Hells Canyon Armoury, he makes billet tikka mags that you can run in the factory bottom metal that allow a COAL of 3.410" for the WSM/PRC calibers. This way you could run whatever actual stock you want, that uses the factory bottom metal, might open up a few more options for you. I know Gary at Bighorn Gun Parts was taking pre-orders for them but I talked to Mike at HCA and he had no issues shipping them direct to myself, just not sure how the whole ITAR thing works but he was willing to do it.

Note...from what I read...the T3X has a slightly larger opening for ejection purposes versus the T3... possibly an advantage for the 7PRC

Thank you for the replies, clarified what I thought from my previous research.

Looking forward to getting started on this build in the next month or so

Appears the xrs nor the bravo have tikka long action as inlets, although mdt has several others that are including the cheaper oryx up to their carbon model. Anyone know if the xrs will be available soon in that?

As RJ point out the 300wm is a great donor rifle for you 7PRC.

Long action and short action chassis are all about the aics magazine length for the Tikka rifles as they will all fit your tikka action. To run the 7 you will want the long action for proper feeding and the ability to run long high bc bullets.

Chassis options are limited to the few chassis. You can also look at AG and manners as suggested about. Some of the GRAYBOE stocks come in tikka inlets for tikka mags and that would be my choice I think a phoenix 2 actually would be my go to. I would pick up a tikka bottom metal from PR Precision (site sponsor) I believe they are aluminum or stainless. Then I would get an NDr shooting supplies mag (which I use for my prc) that is Canadian made and runs factory tikka bottom metals with a coal of 3.420 longer than
Hells canyon stuff and a much better wait time.

That’s what I would be choosing myself. Seeing as it will be more of a hunting rifle. If I was looking more competition I’d be going with a MDT or XLR chassis. (MDT being canadian I’d go that route).

Cheers,
B

(P.S. my opinions are bias cause it’s even harder to find options as a lefty)
