I looked at a No4 MKI* today that had a serial# with the "L" on the bolt,buttsocket and left flat of reciever.It was not stamped Long Branch on the left flat of reciever.Anyone seen this before?
 
As I recall, only LB and Savage made 'Stars'. Stamped a 'Long Branch' or 'U.S. Property'. Only ever seen 'em marked as such.

where in the serial number sequence is the L ...longbranch would be 25L###x some brit rifle may have an L at the beginning of the number L25###x..but it could very well be one of the recent Pakistani refurbs that came in ...i saw a couple at epps that were scrubbed and still had the long branch serial number restamed ..wrong font ..much bigger and done by hand
 
I don"t know the whole serial# but the "L" was the 3rd number as the Long Branch"s were marked.
Any other"s I seen had the No4 MKI* with Long Branch and the year of manufacture on the flat.
This one has no Long Branch or year stamp on it.
But the serial# is on the flat.
