Long Branch serial # question

Hi guys
I have a Long Branch #4 mk1* 1943 receiver/paperweight The original serial# has been partly scrubbed and in it's place on the socket.

L14

Any ideas as to what that may be? My guess would be a commercial rebuild.

That almost looks like a Maltby serial number. Does it indeed say longbranch on the left side receiver wall. Pictures woul be very helpful.

I have run into the same serial format. Likely some foreign government's re-numbering of the serials, but I have no idea who. I used to think New Zealand for some reason, but I can't recall why.
