Long Eye Relief Optics for an M14

Alright I am stupid; the lesson here is to research before I throw my hands up and toss out questions to the forum.

Ok so what I am actually asking is: what are some suitable optics that have a long enough eye relief to be used on an M1A scout squad model rifle (with the rails being located further up the handguard)

I thought eye relief is unlimited with a red dot.

and what kind of mount.... most offer similar distance than any other rifle.... maybe higher?

I would think either the Burris or Leupold Scout scopes would work fine. - dan
