Weaver's K4 Scout (4x28mm) is an intermediate eye relief, carried by Cabela's but a little over your price range at $249. I expect any retailer that carries the brand can get any Weaver model, including their pistol scopes with longer eye relief, but they won't necessarily have what you want on hand.

Dont discard the Bushnell 6500 1.25X8X32, this is just a super scope with 6 inch of eye relief, just mounted one on my brand new Steyr Scout 308... JP.
