Im looking for a scope with a longer than usual eye relief to mount on some custom bases that are just in front of the action on my new 458win. Any ideas? Id mount my Weaver K4 but it doesnt have enough eye relief. Thanks.

I personally have experience with three different brands of scope two of which are scout scopes, a leupold 2.5 scope, a burris 2 3/4 power now not made, and an older redfield 2-7 power pistol scope.
The burris was sent to the factory for repair,i am the second owner after less than 100 rounds of recoil from my tanker 308 for loose crosshairs.
The redfield another out of date scope lasted about the same.
However the leupold has lasted at least 400 rounds and counting.
Absolutely no problems.

eye relief

Try a Bushnell Elite 5-15x40 AO (Mfr. # 32-5154M). I know its a higher power than is needed for your rifle, but it has an amazing 4.3 inch eye relief. I've got one on my Rem 8mm Magnum.

Arch:)

Thanks for the thought there Arch but I need something with around 9" of eye relief for the 'scout' style forward scope mounts on my rifle.

FYI

I contacted US Optics and inquired if they would custom build a medium eye relief scope - scout scope. Wendell Dudley got back to me yesterday saying, "We don't do scout-scopes".

Oh well, it didn't hurt to ask.
