This might be the wrong place to ask (IT IS, no might about it), but what is the status or direction of the long gun registry (the long gun registry is still fully intact and will remain so for the foreseeable future. If the Federal one does fall, there will immediately be a provincial one pop up if you are in Lieberal or Socialist held territory)
