Hi foks,
Ive been out of muzzle loading for several years now.
But a while a go the boys caught an episide of Daniel Boone onthe tube
and thought Tick licker was kick ass.
This got me thinking.What a great way to teach the boys about f/a safety
and slide in some history.(not to mention a reason to get back into M/L)
where in Canada can I get a kentucky/Pen style flintlock. long,full wood stock,
cal .32 or.36 would be ideal but .45 is the min cal for deer in Manitoba.
nothing too expensive as the boys will be hauling it around some property
I'm in the process purchasing.
any thought or ideas would be greatly appricated.

You can order Flinters from the United States with no problem. You may have to pay broakerage fees, but as far as our gun laws go, you will have no problem. There is also a couple of flinters on the exchange forum at a good price, they are in .50, and .54 cal. They are a lot of fun.
 
right at the moment nessy 57 has a nice 45 flinter listed for sale.
for new try loyalist arms or shooters choice . i haven't been to SIR in wpg to see what they carry for black powder. their catalogue shows the austin halleck.
 
Shooter's Choice and Loyalist Arms sell new rifles and often Epps has some for sale.

I have bought form both Shooters Choice and Loyalist with good results.

I would suggest a .50 cal if you intend to hunt deer with it. I think you will find the .32 and .36 cal to be a pain in the bum for fouling and for cleaning.
I also would suggest you give a lot of consideration to choosing a gun with or installing into it a quality lock. A cheap lock is not worth squat in my humble opinion.
