Long Range BPCR

I've done a little bit of BP cartridge silhouette shooting and it was a hoot!!!

The smokeless guys that were spotting would say that they didn't see the shot thinking that we were way off then CLANK and over it would go. Our slugs were going half as fast as the high power and they would look away before the bullet got there. (only got 5 or 6 out of 40 but not bad for iron sights out to 500m)

Does anyone here shoot 300-1000 meter or < using Black Powder Cartridge Rifles??
I shoot several long range rifles out to 1,000 that are BPCR.
I traded one a while back, and just got it back, (still waiting for it)
that is my all time favorite, super accurate, in 45/70.
BIG problem with it ( according to some) is that it is not legal for BPCR silhouette, because it is a Ruger single shot action and the sights are not tang sights but receiver sights - not traditional enough (so they say)

I could give a rat's Patutty , however, because I have several riflea that I COULD shoot in competiton if i wanted to.
I don't shoot from cross sticks, I use a sling , prone!

I shoot my BPCR rifles out to at least 800 yds. on my own range and shoot sillywets out to 500 meters at our club range. i try to practise with what you need in Competition...black powder only...offhand for the 200m. chickens and cross sticks for the other steel critters...my Sharps and Hiwalls(85s) all qualify for BPCR comp. even my "poison slinger"....the 50/90 Sharps.
