long range bullets for 1:12 twist .223 ?

anyone had any luck with anything over 55gr in a 1:12 twist .223 ?

Shot remmy 12 twist, and CZ 12 twist, both shot 52 match perfect, but white box factory winny 55 gr, kinda sucked, think it was cause of the very high velocity in that cheap ammo though.

My 700VS seems to really like the Remington 62gr match ammo. But the groups open to around an inch with the 55gr UMC ammo.

Before I treated my .222 with a Gaillard barrel, the heaviest bullet I could get to stabilize was the 63 gr Sierra. This bullet is a flat base round nose design, so was as short as possible for the weight.

Uh... Probably not.
1:12 isn't at all compatible with bulets much over 55gr

Do try the Vmax line. They have a much higher real world BC then equal HP bullet weights.

With the 12 twist 223, you need all the velocity you can get.

No matter what, if it is windy, your success rate is not high once you go past 500yds.

55gr should be good in .223 with 1:12 - but not much heavier....

try a few in that range...

varget and 60 gr. vmax. Worked very well in a buddy's 1-12" VSSF.

My 1-12" twist Tikka Varmint sweet spot (3/4 MOA) is 50 and 55 gr. It will also do 62gr White box (heaviest bullet) but just not as accurate (1-1.5MOA). The lighter bullets are acceptable up to 300 yards.

I tried the 68gr match bullets and it sucks. Never tried anything heavier.
