Hey all, most of my hunting has been with the usual 3-9 or 4-16 power scopes. 40-44mm. I recently ordered an X-Bolt Long Range in .280 AI. Planning on launching 162gr ELD-X bullets wayyy out there, shots on game as far as I'm confident in hitting.

A friend of mine gave me a set of medium Talley's for an X-Bolt in 30mm tube size, would love to put these to use.

There are a lot of scopes in the $500-$1000 price range, I've got a couple Vortex and Burris scopes which are alright, and seems like anything brand-name in this range is anywhere from decent to pretty good. There would be some Vortex, Leupold, Bushnell scopes in this range, Burris, Cabela's Covenant 7, maybe a few others.

But this Athlon MIDAS 4.5.27x scope looks like a great long range hunting and target scope - way more power than my mid and short range guns and looks to be decently reviewed. The reticle looks pretty nice too, not sure if MIL or MOA is the better choice.

Are these things worth the cash? Is there something else to consider in that price range? The range is firm, the rings should be good for 50mm objective with 30mm tube.

Send a pm or email. Very happy with how Athlon optics have worked for me in competition.

Happy to help. Please note, there is a range of new options for 2021 that might be an even better fit to what you want to do both in budget and function
