Hi folks I've built myself a nice rifle to take out to some decent ranges most of the time only 600 yards and on occasion 1km I've been looking at vortex viper pst gen 2 in ffp and mrad. Does anyone have recommendations for other scopes I should look through before buying price range up to about 1600 before taxes. Thanks for reading!

Nightforce

You can buy an SHV in 5-20 for less or step up into a NXS for a bit more.

Look into sightron they have some nice scopes in that price range. I suggest you go look through a few different ones. Glass quality is more important than power. I had a 4-16 pst that i quickly sold and bought a Nightforce 4-14 ffp that i can shoot 1000 yards with and spot shots out further.

the gen 2s have better glass than the originals and I think slightly better than the Burris XTR 2.

Bushnell DMR 2

In this price range, have a look at the Athlon Ares ETR FFP mil scope... comes with ED glass and will offer all the features popular today for this format of scope.

For alot less money but still very nice glass, have a look at the Athlon Midas TAC 6-24 FFP with xmas tree reticle.

PM or email if I can help further.

I would go with the vortex pst gen 2 if you don't have enough to buy even a gen 1 razor. The SHV is not as reliable as the NXS line or vortex in my opinion from research. The NXS line for me is missing the ffp advantage. I have a gen 1 razor on my custom 6.5 and have been looking for a scope for my savage 10 in .308. Soo that's why I think your on right path. Strictly my opinion from my research.

Steiner P4XI, its a 4-16x56 but for that distance you'll love the clarity of the glass, lots of movement in the turrets and low light performance. I have one on my coyote gun and I took it out to 800 m no problem, could call my own shots even

I just bought an Athlon Ares ETR FFP mil and I have been impressed with it so far. It replaced a 5-20x56 SHV and there is no comparison, the ETR is superior in every way, with the exception of size (It's a 34 mm tube and slightly longer). The turrets are great, and has a really simple and strong zero stop. Locking windage. Excellent reticle. Glass clarity exceeds the SHV line. I've owned SHV'S, NXS'S, Leupold's, Vortex, etc. I would not buy the SHV, or any PST line scope over the ETR.
