Hey team, im new to this forum but am looking at getting into the long range game. I will also be using this rifle for hunting. I decided on 300 Win Mag because it will do the damage I need done at distance but also is "reasonable" to shoot the LR hunting rounds.
Anyway I have already decided on a scope for said build and have the list down to 3 rifles. the Christensen Arms Modern Precision rifle, RPR Gen 4, and the tikka T3x TACT A1. any stories or tips people have from any of these rifles in that caliber would be appreciated
Thanks!

Recon it will be a compromise rifle either way. A 300wm that is nice to shoot on the range might be a bit heavy for longer walks and a good hunting rifle weight might not be much fun on the range. I am on my second crossover hunting/long range 300wm. I chose to go the custom route with light varmint 24" barrel and carbon fibre stock to improve balance and save weight, fitting a heavy tac scope for balance and having reliable optics. Rifle therefore recoils nicer.
The T3 action could be a bit short for longer loaded cartridges, some cut a v into the front bottom of the action to allow longer cartridges to chamber.

Some poor reviews on the Christensen if you are looking at the carbon barrel. Light is not what you want in a target rifle.

Consider going custom if you have the means - the Ultimatum actions allow for easy home barrel swaps and a net savings over a custom build from a smith. Barrel, trigger, chassis/stock can be tailored to the desired application. Your could do the same using a savage action if you wanted to do it cheap.

That being said, if you want an off the rack firearm the it's hard to go wrong with a Tikka which should allow for lots of future upgrades if you want to go that route.

I have a buddy that hunts and shoots 1000+ target with a 300 Win Sendero.
Has a badger thruster brake, it's like shooting a 243, don't know what it's like for hunting, but he isn't deaf yet.
