Long Range Shooting in Alberta

Our 1K range is still under development; it's cleared out there, but backstops and dry access aren't complete. Very tough working based on wet ground conditions etc.

Next clinic is July 14 - if you're willing to jump into a match cold, that's a possibility to come in earlier, but every weekend from now and up to and including July 27/28 (with the exception of June 1/2 and June 28/29) is booked for training and competitions. The July long weekend is definitely not a go, as most of us will be in Winterpeg for the Western Championship. Like to help newbies out, but we've got other commitments as well, so we schedule/publish these clinics in advance and volunteer our time. Hope to see you shooting in July or drop by a match.

When and where is this clinic?

As the message says, it's scheduled for July 14. As to where - it will be at the Homestead Range. Given that the road has just been washed out, the entire schedule is looking pretty unlikely. Keep your eye turned to the website for more information and updates.

Road is not washed out. Looked like it on Thursday, but the river went down and the road remained.

Went out to nosehill gun club today and had a great time.Met some guys with way more skill and knowledge than myself, so i learned some stuff too. The shooting was really good even tho the wind wasnt really cooperative. I am finding it easier to get more comfortable behind my rifle the more rounds i shoot thru it.looking forward to spending more time with the guys down there. Thanks again Willr1.

Sunday is the most active day, that is when scheduled shoots are held. There are people at the range every Sunday and Wednesday afternoon to shoot shotgun. The rest of the time is good to go for rifle and pistol.

I'm a member of the BCRA w/ a conjoined DCRA membership. I'm thinking of shooting coming out in 2014 to shoot the Fullbore FTR competitions. Are there any other requirements needed form APRA for me to shoot a competition other than registration fee for the tournaments?

Current PRA membership is required. I believe match fee and possibly an additional $5 for insurance. Match fees are $25/day, $40 for the two days. While not stated anywhere, a cheerful disposition is required. Hope to see you out here.

Too bad you're 3.5 hours south! I'd be there every weekend. Anybody shooting LR closer to Cold Lake? Bonnyville only has 300m...

Nose Hills Gun Club near Consort has steel targets to 1120, one at 1400 to go in this summer, target boards to 500 big bore handgun and rifle silouettes

Any one have some experience at the rocky mtn house range? I'm looking at buying a membership out there to compliment my membership to the Red Deer Shooting Center. There website says they have 500 yards worth of range set up and a 1200 yard range under development for late 2014.
