Hoping someone with experience can point me in the right direction.
I'm looking for a spotting scope that'll let me see .50 cal bullet holes at 1000M , does such a beast exhist?

If that's not possible, what's the best spotting scope for that distance that will give me a good view.

Looking for ideas here, thanks

M.

Simple answer - NONE.

With mirage and normal conditions distorting your view, there is no spotting scope that will allow you to spot a bullet hole, even a 50cal at that distance.

If you are lucky enough to shoot in NO mirage weather, it might be possible to spot on a white surface. You will not see it on a black target unless backlit.

Some of the best spotting scopes I have used include KOWA (best for eyeglass wearers), Leica (scary resolution), Swarovski (poor exit pupil size for blind folk), Pentax (ED glass up to 60X - SUPERB).

If they could stick the KOWA wide angle eyepiece on the Pentax scope, you would have the killer set up for the least amount of funds.

All will easily spot 30cal holes out to 600yds even with a bit of mirage. ALL will wash out on heavy mirage days. Out to 1000yds, you look for the marker on the target which is usually 1.5 to 2" across.

For general spotting, the list grows tremendously and includes some very inexpensive binos. You will be able to see the markers, bullet trace, dust kicked up but to actually see the hole in paper, that's a tough one.

kewl, thanks

I've recently mounted a Leupold 3x7 x33 rifleman on my .22lr (yeah, yeah, I know,,,, why!)
I got it for nothing,,,,, but I can pick out the holes at 100 yds 1/2 of the time, depending on whats behind the target and the weather.
Was hopeing for the same kinda luck with a spotting scope at least for longer ranges.
I have a fixed 10x swarovski on the .50 and easily see the orange markers but wanted something alot better.

Thanks

If you're looking for options, check out Konus, they have some large-objective spotters....pretty good bang for the buck....IMO.

This one can do the job!http://
