Long Range Tactical..... Anybody Read This??

I dont want to be one of "those" kind of guys, but if I'm not mistaken Lapua is Finnish.

The "problem" with 338 Lapua Magnum is that it was designed around Sierra's 250gr MatchKing and that much superior 300gr long range bullets have been developped in the meantime but a 338 Lapua Magnum can't feed them through a magazine.

The solution might be the 338 Norma Magnum which is designed around Sierra's 300gr MatchKing bullet and can feed 300gr bullet through a magazine.
Many top long range manufacturers have started offering 338 Norma Magnum rifles (I was surprised to see that Surgeon rifles does so right now).

I've been loading 300gr SMK's for my Sako TRG and haven't had any feeding issues. Accuracy is outstanding in my opinion. Always room for improvement, and I'm sure the 338 Lapua wont be the last stop in long range performance.

Things seem to be focusing around the Lapua Magnum.

There was another thread speculating that the US was avoiding the Lapua because it was created by the Swiss.

I think it might have been created by the Finnish. Oh, and it might have been created for the U.S....

Best I can do with Wikipedia being U/S for the day...
