Long Range Training

Get in touch with the ORA PR Coord throught the web page to get the correct date.

The council meeting had a last minute change of location, but went off, none the less.

LRT1 was Sunday 08 January. It was a good session convering basic information on rifle fit, scope construction & adjustment, and some shooting practice (about 25 rounds, mainly a 20 MOA "square" at 50 yards [indoors]).

The ORA website shows LRT2 for Sunday 12 March but they were talking about moving it, because of the Sportsman Show, March break and other things.

Check with the ORA before you book time off.

Did anyone go to the ORA Long Range Training Pt 1 at Burlington ? How was it ? Good training ?
I was very happy with it, I learned a few things about scope "internals" and
load development. (Jim knows a lot.)

Svc,
The Swiss do put on a good lunch at Borden. I also hear that some of the Service Condition matches and at Milcun the BBQ's are almost as important as the match itself.
I will admit that there is a free lunch at the ORA council meetings. It is the least they can do after driving 3.5 hours each way for a meeting 3 times a year. The ORA does not pay for gas for me to attend these meeting, it comes out of my pocket:(

Since you seem to be new to the ORA I will explain a few things.
Your "Activity Fee" pays for range rental at Cedar Springs and Winona. It also pays the the beach sentries that are required. This fee also pays for the Range Officer at Borden. (he does not do this because he is a nice guy:D )
The target frames that are at Borden and Cedar Springs are owned and maintained by the ORA. The wind flags are also ORA property. With the exception of the military target faces, all Target Rifle/F class competition target faces are purchased by the ORA through the DCRA.

Now Svc, as far as my knowledge goes...
A. Check out the ORA results on the web page and you will see how much I shoot. ( you won't have to guess my name:eek: )
B. Yep, I am a newbie. I have only been shooting with the ORA for 14 years, so I am still learning.
C. I will be glad to give you lessons, again look at the results page.
D. Free lunch at Bisley? A trip to Bisley to shoot on the Canadian team will cost between $4500-$5000 out of your own pocket. So where is the free lunch here?
I hope this cleared up any misconceptions you may have about the ORA and it's activities, Bisley, and MY knowledge about shooting at Mons.

Hey Tom,

Hey Tom,

I want to be C. That's me me me.

I'm old, can't see very well and bald (can that count?) Hey Terry, which target am I shooting on?

You'll pay dearly for that one.

I still don't understand your above statement. spell it out for me.

That is not all you don't understand. Find out more about the ORA before running off at the keyboard.

If everything is free, like, range time, targets, flags, a free trip to Bisley, and of course lunch, where does your membership and activity fee go? Range time for Cedar Springs, Winona and MilCun is not free, we pay for it.

Whoever the person was that told you these things, is also misinformed.
Come to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in March and find out for yourself.

Bob

I have heard that story, and that is some:D :D :D stuff.
I would be glad to have a lesson from anyone of this bunch:
Bob Pastor, Maynard, Norm B, Terry Perkins, or that guy named Ric M:cool:

:D :D

Bob, that was an excellent sighter shot you put into target 26. It matched the second perfect sighter you put into target 29. You also proved that you can operate under pressure.

Terry Perkins

Pressure

Terry,

And after we finished, I had to change my depends!

Norm is up to no good! He's playing with another surprise for us this year. The Mongoose is up to something in his burrow this Winter. He's being very quiet. I haven't had a mongoose burger in months.

Give your good luck charm a hug for me.

OK, Hot news. Day 2 of the ORA Long Range Training is now scheduled for March 5th so as to avoid a whole bunch of other things. Register by email via ORA website to get more details or confo. This is such hot news it may even not be on their website yet, I just happened to hear it from one of the guys running it.
