Long Range

Depends on what you want to spend and how you plan to shoot it!

I have a NF NXS 5.5-22x56 w/zero stops that I love! Sits on a 308 that gets lots of use. I will never let it go.

For me, Nightforce prices are my ceiling so I will probably never try USO or S&B but I've had Vortex, Sightron and Leupy's as well that were all good.

If we knew what type of shooting you plan on doing with the 7 we can help more.

I've found this man's "Sniper 101" series of vids (over 100+ and counting) to be extremely informative. Might be worth it to you to check out the topics he covers (everything from breaking in barrels to transonic zones to calculating firing solutions to coriolis drift....)

Here are 2 of his half dozen or so vids on optics that might answer your question:

i plan on getting into some longer range target shooting with my 7rem. i have nvr done anything of the sort. it may be used as a hunting rifle from time to time for big game but i do have other that i can use for hunting

dont always have to go really expensive (but ya ...sure ...desirable)

i like my bushnell 6500 2.5 x16x42mm(7-800 i think) ....... under 4 " group and another 6.7 " @ 1040 yards .... bipod and popcorn sock ......308 win.... reticle is a bit thick though yup ..... for me it was the specs i wanted ......

also heard good things about sightron but no experience

I've got a Sightron S3 6-24X50 ffp on my long range rig and feel its a very good value for the dollar.
I talked to the supplier (Hirsch Precision) and felt good about my choice. It has nice clear glass, all the features and has not had any issues after a few hundred rounds of .338LM

Id seriously consider a Burris XTR II. Ive never looked through one but they are getting excellent reviews. They have great reticle, 34 mm tube (lots of adjustment) Zero stop turrets and a lifetime warranty. Retail is about $1350 cnd.

Nightforce is what I go with for my hunting rig and also my target rifle. For repeatability and holding up to recoil it's an awesome piece. Very heavy for hunting though, as I spot and stalk on most of my outings.
