Now that long ranger has been out for a while I’m curious if anyone can compare theirs to a new production BLR?

I’m a fan of the BLR and have used them in the past. How does the Henry compare in trigger pull, accuracy, fit and finish? I generally like Henry products but was disappointed the trigger pull on the single shot I had was so heavy it rendered the gun almost unusable. Any such problems with this more complex design? Can the rifle be taken apart and cleaned?

Haven't handled a long ranger; Review make em look pretty good. But its basically a copy of the BLR in almost every way. I'd try one. But I love my BLRS

I’ve only had a couple but their triggers were better than most tube fed levers I’ve had.

Looks like we are still waiting on a long ranger owner

I never shot the long ranger, but our gun shop have/ had one or two and I handled it a bit in the store, for what it’s worth, it is nice, but not as nice as a BLR, the BLRs I handled were so much smoother/slicker/glassy action wise, the fit and finish was IMO to a higher level, that said the Henry was good, wood was good, the detachable magazine is maybe a bit better than on the BLR. On the other hand the stock on the Henry is bulkier especially the but-stock, not as refined as the BLR! But that is all I can bring to the mill!!

I only own but one BLR and only about thirty rounds expended for checking function. Is pre owned but taken care of. Someone before myself worked on the trigger a crisp three pounds and very nice of them leave on the hammer extension.
One of three mags is extremely tight, this my one and only complaint as of yet. Circa 1986ish.

I would not touch a new production BLR with a ten foot pole. I do not care for the bulkiness of the aluminum receiver. The older steel versions were a better rifle in my opinion and I have owned several of them over the years, all 308 or 358, never owned a new one though. I have never owned the Long Ranger either, but would be interested to hear reports and even try one some day.

I have had quite a number of BLR's over the years. I had a steel receiver version in .308 and then newer versions in .308, .30-06 and the only one I have left is a newer model in .243. They have all been very smooth and tack drivers. Some of the best hunting/carrying rifles I have ever used. I shot the biggest deer of my life with the .243 version and 100 grain Nosler Partitions at an honest 230 yards. Still probably my favorite deer rifle. The triggers are not match grade, but they are no worse than any other hunting rifle and perhaps even better than some. The cons - the gun is over priced - especially if purchasing new. The magazines are ridiculously over priced. Browning must think pretty highly of those mags …. Would I buy another? Yep. Would love a stainless laminated .308 some day. I have never handled a Henry long ranger, but I would love to give them a try.

I haven't fired either but have handled them both quite a bit at the gun shop I work at. They both shoulder nicely and have their pros and cons. I personally like the magazine release location on the BLR better but like the trigger and straight comb on the Henry better than the BLR's pistol grip.
