Man 'o man, trying to get reliable info about the Longbranch #4 "Lightweight" prototype is like pulling teeth.
I'm trying to find out how many were made, when, markings, value etc.
Anyone?
thanks
This would make a neat project fore a Bubba Long Branch. I have seen "tanker" no.4's made, sniper copies, but never a No.4 Lightweight trails rifle made form a Neutered no.4.
Ok guys, the labour and delivery are done........ the baby is home!!
This has got to be the cutest L-E ever made, too bad they stopped!

Not much of a story.... it came up for sale and I was afraid it was a bubba'd copy, but it turns out she's legit. Unlike in the link you gave me, the black buttpad turns out to be ok... they must have used whatever they could get.
It's truly amazing that it was never touched... except for the little loop infront of the mag being removed, and the mag is pretty fugly too.
That's the story......... not to mention my deck needs to be painted!
Yes it's got the J-5550-xx stamp w/matching bolt.
Also a small C-broadarrow on the rear sight and bolt.
Longbranch went to great pains to lighten the rifle... even the bolt is lightened, and the inside of the stock... looks like a beaver was chewing on it.
I've been meaning to get out to the EOHC shoot.... even if I can't make it next time, maybe I can convince 'Lou' to chaparone it for me![]()
yes just looking at the receiver you can see that they went to town on it. How about a few more pictures of it disassembled.
That would be a generous contribution to the advancement of the study of the No.4. Badger has some shots of a Lightweight on milsurps.com; but only the outsides. If the stock is as aggressively hollowed and the receiver as thoroughly machined out, you would be literally the first man to post pictures of that on the interweb (and maybe even the first to publish them anywhere). Think of the prestige, the fame, the women and the accolades!
