Longer flash hider makes it nr?

I was thinking about getting a nr barrel for my 16.5" ACR, off Herron arms, but thought could a person just get a longer flash hider pinned and welded? Would be a lot quicker and cheaper than a custom barrel. Thoughts?

No, to sum it up quickly this wouldn't work. There's a reason nobody else is doing this for NR conversions. Go the Herron Arms route.

That only works in the U.S., not here.

Used to work in Canada - but that changed in the late 80's IIRC (maybe it was early 90's).

Why wouldnt you just extendthe barrel and take the xtra fps?

"...that changed in the late 80's..." Changed when the FA was enacted. The FA is very clear about how barrels get measured and that FH's, MB's, etc., don't count. Re-restricted hordes of M1 Carbines that were extended in 1979.
