longer "stock screw" in Knoxx Spec Ops?

I've just put an MI sling plate on a Mossberg 590 with Knoxx Spec Ops stock - but the thickness of the plate makes the stock screw too short - it barely engages 2-3 threads.

So I need a longer stock screw - just a standard cap screw - but I can't get the existing one out without taking the spec ops apart.

Anyone know how to do that?
 
If I recall correctly you can take the screw out without disassembly of the grip. Remove the rubber o-ring that keeps the screw in place, then you can knock it back and the steel washers will wall off inside... then you can get it out.

(Might have to remove the stock from the tube for clearance)

I had the same problem with my mossbert 590 14", what I did was take out the pistol grib stock and put my original stock back on, the original stock had a longer screw, but I am missing out on mounting a sling, unless you can get a longer screw, put you original stock on and sell the SPEC OPS stock...

Have any of you gone to Home Depot(or equivalent) to look for a longer screw of the same thread?
