Nothing major there. A few snap crackle pop and that's it. No bullets flying through the air at 2800fps

Tsk tsk tsk... My usual range has a container dedicated strictly to misfired rounds.
I wonder how some people managed to pass their PAL course or feed themselves for that matter. The range seems to be having problems with dumba$$ shooters this year, our 100m target supports ( 16" posts) have been shot through and collapsed leaving only a 2' section of the 12' target board useable.
I know, but our range caretakers don't deserve a shock when they maintain the range. Common sense dictates taking the misfires home and disposing of them by disassembling them as I did.

We had someone inadvertently, throw a box of 50 (40 cal) into the burn barrel at training last year. Not smart, but no harm done.
Mythbusters actually did a segment on heating unchambered rounds in an oven. If I recall there was no drama until they did it with a .50 cal. result was a dent in the oven wall.

Unfortunately this seems to be a common problem at many ranges.
Both ranges I belong to have clearly marked ' dud bins ' and very clear signage as to posting targets on the back boards with bright orange paint marking the support posts, however it is normal to find dud rounds lying on the benches and/or the support posts shot to pieces.

I seen two guys grip and 22 shell with a pair of pliers and hit the end of it. You could actually see the bullet fly through the air it was so slow. Now putting a spray can in a fire is loads of fun compared to a bullet. I thought the Op was mad because somebody threw them away not where they threw them.
I already posted I knew that it wouldn't hurt anyone but it would be an unpleasant surprise for our range caretakers to have the shells go off when the lit the barrels, that combined with the stupidity of shooting up the range supports makes me question the IQ of some of the members.
I guess it shouldn't actually be a surprise to find the leavings of stupid people. Just driving to the range we put our lives in the hands of fools who think they have to post and read bookface and twit while they are driving. The number of drivers I see with their heads down on the Trans Canada is sickening, to say the least. 
Years back, we had some nice knockdown steel targets made up for fun pistol shooting. Needless to say, non-club members used them for target practice with big rifles. Way to go boys!

I understand what you're saying and yes every range has its fair share of idiots. I would hope though, that range caretakers take this into account and don't stand over a burn barrel in case there is a bit of brass popping out of the top.
My range does not have a dud bin, just brass and trash. Both are regularly abused.
