After a bit of a search for a nice 20ga. SXS ... I found these two little beauties looking for a new home... :D

1. Beretta A301M - Wood is in great condition, great weight, needed a bit of a cleaning, fixed full choke (debating having some choke tubes installed). Hopefully this will become the wife's upland gun. Bore is great shape.

2. Browning BSS Special Steel. Wood is fantastic, imp cyl and mod fixed chokes. Bore is in great condition.

I am extremely happy with this (they're in practically new condition) find and can't wait to get out with the Munsterlander for some Chukar!!

That Beretta has chrone bores I believe, which is an important thing to mention to any gunsmith installing choke tubes. Needs a special cutter, I think.

My gunsmith has told me to forget tubes for a Beretta - not enough meat. I have an A300 in 12 gauge with a fixed modified choke - it's great for late season grouse and puddle-jumping ducks.

Nice guns both! I would just open the auto to skeet1 and be done with it...and grouseman is right, chrome costs more to open up but it can be done.

I've been a little leary of the mixed reviews regarding messing with Chrome bores... A local smith has a carbide bit, so they can do the work and he said he would quote on it..

You may be right Looch... but I was told that measurements would have to be taken and possibly tubes could be added, or they would just bore it out and leave me with a mod or Imp Cyl. Now, not to open a can of worms, but as long as you keep the thing cleaned it should be no issue - which is my understanding what the purpose of the chrome is in the first place (easier to keep clean)?

My understanding with the BSS is it will take steel shot too - so :D

I've had them both out to the local range and everything works as it should.

The Beretta wasn't off the EE Dave - they came to me by way of family friend (of the inlaws :dancingbanana:).

My GUN budget is pooched right now!!!

I still need to get out with the wife and see how she does with the Beretta. The BSS is smaller, and I think it actually fits her better. I may see if she can handle that with a recoil pad. If the beretta doesn't fit her, I may look to sell it and get something else :(. I'm just not so keen on selling that Beretta to fund a synthetic 11-87. If she actually could use the BSS - I could sell the Beretta and fund a Yildiz or CZ SXS :D
