Howdy people
I got out of airguns a long time ago and need some info updates.
There's alot of new stuff , over the last 40yr or so ,with airpistols that I'm not familiar with at all...

I'm looking at .177 pellet (not BB ) air pistols that are semi auto , CO2 powered and have a cool military look to them.
Blow back actions are cool , but that would reduce the powerlet PSI considerably...right???

What I've seen so far , there's a Colt Govt. 1911 A1-( my fav ), a Beretta and a Magnum Research ( Desert Eagle ) all apparently made in Germany by Umarex ? , with an 8 shot rotory mag.
All seem to be aprx the same FPS , price range , give or take.

Has anybody have any input on these pistols?
...and also ...what about the sabot type pellets ? Are they worth it ?

I have the Umarex Colt 1911, and your right, it is a great gun.
You are also right, blowback, though cool will knock offabout 1/3 of your velocity. The Colt is about 425fps whereas most of the blowback guns will be 300 to 350. If you're just basement plinking this won't matter, but at longer distances it would.
And the Colt is capable of longer distances. It is accurate. At 10m it will keep 5 pellets in an inch, rested. Outdoors I regularly set up a series of targets from 5 - 15m. Even at 15m I have no problem putting the pellets where I want them as long as the wind isn't too strong.
Here's a test of it's clone, the Beretta 92 (all the internals are the same on these guns) http://airgun-academy.pyramydair.com/blog/2011/02/beretta-92fs-co2-pistol-with-wood-grips-part-1/
