I'm looking at buying a used PARA, model PX745E, going for $850. Haven't seen it yet, but apparently in VG condition. I'm new to 1911's, and was wondering what things to look for. Any way to tell if it's seen it's share of rounds put through it, or is that really not too much concern? TIA.

There seems to be an obsession with round count... these things are designed
to go through 1000's and 1000's of rounds, with maybe a recoil spring (CHEAP) to replace to make it like new.
Hell, most guns are tighter than Toby's a**hole for the first 10,000 rounds
and don't start performing until then...
You can generally get a reasonable idea of the condition of a gun by how it
appears... is it clean, does it function smoothly, it is covered in dings and
dents... don't be put off by normal 'wear' features... as someone else put it so eloquently, " These are tools, not objects of art for f**ksake."
Sorry about the rant, but you can generally tell by the general condition as
to whether it has been abused or not. When buying unseen, have an under-
standing with the seller that you have the right to an inspection period, but
the only valid reason for returning it would be gross misprepresentation.
