I was a regular IPSC and USPSA shooter in the 90's. I got out of it because of work and the gun laws were just getting too stupid. Me and a regular group of shooters toured the matches regularly and shot in every match we could in the US and in Canada. I am now in Saskatchewan, and it was time to renew my PAL. I had a nice notice come from the RCMP that I needed to belong to a gun club (which I haven't in 19 years), or they would not renew my PAL, and I would have to dispose of my firearms. I couldn't believe how polite the notice was, lol. I ended up joining a good club, and it made me remember good times and the fun that I had. My question though is, how active is IPSC in Canada? I also heard there is now an IDPA which is similar, are there many Canadian matches for this? I also need to find out if I have to take the black badge course again. I left two messages on the phone number last week associated with the IPSC Canada number, but received no response, as I am wondering if I am still in the data base. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated as I do not want to get back into it if it is now a dead sport. I am hoping it's not. Thanks in advance.

IPSC is not a dead sport. It is growing and will continue to do so, in AB we are very active.
Try emailing the contacts off the IPSC Sask website, if that doesn't work reach out to Sean Hansen (off the ipsc canada site)

I am in Saskatoon. There seem to be a lot of gunclubs here, but only one that I found that does IPSC. The bad part is that they only do IPSC for 6 months and then take off for 6 months. I don't know why, but that sucks as it will not be starting back up again until October. Oh well, it will give me some time to learn to shoot again :).
