just looking at this point would a HK SL-8 223 rem work ?
what is a good choice for a pistol
what 12g could one use a Beretta A400 work to start
is there any 3 gun shooting on van Island

Yes, but there are better options IMHO, AR-15's for example.

Whatever pistol you are comfortable with and can shoot well, and are able to obtain parts for readily!

The Beretta will work, getting parts for them, for an example, oversize charge handles, extension tubes, can be difficult to source. Beretta has an upgraded version of the A400 specifically for 3 gun called a 1301 Comp....if you are into Beretta's

No idea about 3 gun on VanIsle! Good Luck!
 
If you're doing most of your 3-gun in Canada, consider a pump. The extra speed of a semi won't mean much if you're always reloading while the pump guys are still shooting.

A versamax holds 7 or 8 rounds of 2 3/4" shells because it's a 3 1/2" magnum chamber and you can ghost load one on the lifter.

So depending on the semi it's close to a pump in capacity...

That's why I asked if most of his 3-gun was going to be shot in Canada - where we're limited to 5 in a semi :(

What you said would only matter if pumps and semi's shot in the same division... 'something I've never seen happen

Just Curious, you can shoot a pump action in the Semi Div?, what about capacity,is it limited same as Semi's?, Havnt shot in any Team HOSER Shotgun Match.
 
The 2 matches I've been to have you reloading your shotgun more than shooting it. So whatever you can reload faster is probably best. A side x Side would even work with ejectors please!
