I'm looking to start getting into reloading. Would probably be reloading 45acp, 38 special/357 mag. Anyone give me some suggestions and tips on what to buy to start off with? I'm pretty in the dark on this so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
James

I have been looking into it myself and just priced it out. I am buying a Dillon R550B and the equipment to load .45ACP and 9mm. I have alot of extras but the total came to $952 including tax and shipping. I am going 1/2's on this with a guy who is loading 9mm

I am initially going to buy 1000 rounds of factory ammo first and save the cases. Components to load the first 1000 rounds comes to $125 for .45 ACP. Here is my list:

486.00 RL550 w/conv
110.00 Quick change
72.00 Dies .45ACP
72.00 Dies 9mm
21.00 Primer tray
45.00 Strong mount
15.00 Case guage
15.00 Case guage
31.00 Bullet puller
119.99 Lyman Turbo
75.00 Scale
18.99 Media

Heres what I did, I shopped around and bought up used pieces of reloading equipment, then any major pieces I was missing I bought new. I stuck with one brand (RCBS). I'm using a single stage press, I think its the best for newbies like myself. I enjoy it as much as shooting.

What have you budgeted for this purchase?

That's the deciding factor.

I havnt really set a budget. I want to get something that i will do what i want so i dont have to upgrade at a later time

Then set yourself up with a Dillon 650, casefeeder, dies and conversion kits for the extra calibers that you will load for and extra toolheads and stands.

Reloaders Bench, P&D, Epps among others sell Dillon.

At a quick estimate, you're looking at about $800US. So set about $1000 for the complete kit.
