Looking for 12g components suggestions

I've read a couple of books, browsed various forums and manufacturer's websites, bought a used MEC 600 Jr. I've been picking up hulls at my club for a while and now have quite a collection of Winchester AA's, Remington STS and Remington Gun Club hulls. My plan is to produce a light target load (with 7 1/2 shot), probably something like 7/8 oz or maybe even 1oz of shot.

Given the variety of hulls, I'm looking for a single powder/primer/wad combo that I can use to load all the various hulls without having to re-adjust my loader each time I change the hull type. Needless to say, I'm also looking to do this as cheaply as possible.

Any help will be appreciated.

We load the following 7/8 12 ga load using Winchster AA hulls..

CCI209M primer, Claybuster 0178-12 wad, 15.8 to 18 grains of Hodgdon Clays powder

If you go to the Hodgdon website and use the reloading calculator

http://data.hodgdon.com/shotshell_load.asp

You can find all in the info you need. If you're trying to do it as cheaply as possible try and find the load that shares the most components for the different hulls. You might also factor in component availability and price.

You shouldn't have to make any adjustments to your loader from one hull to the other except maybe pre-crimp and crimp depth that that's no big deal.

If you're just breaking clays then consider going to 8 or 9 shot. You'll get more pellets for the weight and they'll still break the clays just as well. We use #8.

As an FYI. Your AA hulls are better suited for target loads and your Remington hulls are better suited for heavier (1 1/8 oz +) hunting loads.

As another FYI. All Remington hulls (STS, Gun Glub, Game Loads, etc) load the same. You'll usually only find loading data for the STS hulls. Just use the same info for your Gun Clubs etc.

www.shotgunworld.com has an excellent reloading forum. Not to say that this one is not but the majority of the guys on here are doing metalic loading.

Alliant Powder also has a reloading calculator just like the Hodgdon one.

If you have any questions feel free to send me a PM.

down load the data from your powder manufacture all most all of them have something on line or buy the Lyman shotgun reloading book

just throwing stuff together can be dangerous !!!!!!:pirate:
each hull could have different info / pressures

Use the same load but with a Cheddite primer, 16.0 gr. of Clays, Claybuster Lightening wad and a AA hull, 7/8 oz of shot nice to shoot and bust birds well. If you buy the Lightening wads there is data in the bag for 1oz and 7/8 oz in WW, RP and Ferderal hulls. I have used Clays, Red Dot and Promo all with sucess with 7/8oz and these wads using both WW and Cheddite primers.
