HI guys.
I'm looking for a 1911 (any brand) in 9mm.
I have always loved the look of the 1911 and I'm cheap so 9mm appeals to me over .45 :)

I don't want to start a "my gun is the best" thread...just some opinions if you have one and some pros and cons.

Not even sure what companies make a 1911 in 9mm.

Thanks.

Hands down--STI Spartan in 9mm. Pros: inexpensive, reliable and accurate. Cons: finish supposedly wears easily, although I haven't noticed on mine yet.

Since you asked for my opinion, it is this.

Why a 1911 in 9mm? If you want a 9mm, then get a Browning HP, Sig 226 or Glock 17 whatever. A 1911 should be in .45acp, they were made for each other.

Don't get me wrong, I am as cheap as they come, so I shoot Norkie 45acp 1911s and I cast my own heads and reload range pickups.

The only problem with 9mm 1911's is that they don't shoot .45's. Almost pistol blasphemy. With that out of the way, nothing wrong with a Norinco.

If the 9mm Spartans are as good as the 45 Spartans then get one of those and you won't be sorry you did.

I have a 9mm Spartan and for the money its very impressive. It has the highest quality parts where they need to be like the hammer, sear, trigger, ect. You just don't get the fancy external machining like say the Trojan but functionally the two pistols are the same. I've put just over 1800 rounds through mine with out a single failure. The trigger is amazing the break is clean and light. If you get a 9mm 1911 I highly recommend Tripp Research mags they are excellent quality and the follower design helps ensure the small 9mm rounds are feed properly in the 1911.

From what i have seen there isn't a better gun for the money in 9mm 1911 category.

Almost pistol blasphemy? It is pistol blasphemy! But I also say the same about 1911's in the 'other' calibres..... :D

FWIW, I don't own a 9mm 1911 but if I were in the market for one, any STI or Dan Wesson would be on my short list......nothing wrong with the Norc NP29, it's just not for me. YMMV....
