The Lord Strathconas horse riding troop is looking to change their look from the scarlet troopers to WW1 Cavalry. We are looking for 20 Lee Enfield no.1 MKIII for the troopers they can be working or not or any kind of shape as they will be re blued and fixed up. they will mostly be in the scabbards on the saddle most of the time. If any one knows where a quantity of these rifles could be sourced that would be a great help.

Regiment, the Association or Riding Club have any idea how much money they're looking at? Anybody there actually know what they're talking about? No offense, but this sounds like an idea from time in the Mess. Been there.
A bubba'd No. 1 runs around $150 as a minimum. To restore it to non-shooting display condition will run more than that. A repro forestock, for example, runs $100ish. Gets very expensive.
And there are legal ownership issues. The Association/Riding Club will get no special dispensation from the daft laws. Museums require a firearms business licence. Start here. Add the W's. .rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/fs-fd/fab-eaf-eng.htm

Is the riding troop a registered charity? If not, this would be worth looking into. Some folks might just be prepared to donate a rifle and/or accoutrements if there is a possibility of getting a tax receipt for this.

Sad tale, when I was a teen in the 60s, Rib Tor could have supplied your needs, several times over, for 10. a piece. :(

Grizz

Checked the website and I see that it does have status as a registered charity. As such it can issue receipts for the value of donations made to it. Donations can be made in cash or in kind (value of items donated). Might be worth an appeal on this basis. Another option is to stay in touch with the EPS and RCMP to see about any rifles that they might have which could be demilled and donated.

Isnt there a company makes rubber one for film industry i seen stuff like that on ebay
Failing that im sure a mold could be made and make dummy ones ?

It's ok Sunray, the gravy drinkers have cash.
Maybe they've been selling horse droppings as souvenirs to the dragoons or rubber boot.
:p

There is a nice refurb on the EE forum right now for $600. Originals will be more.

Does the regiment or troop have a contact for cash donations? I am a LdSt H association member and would like to donate some cash for this.

Actually there may be some held in stores believe it or not. We investigated getting some as they list in the system. I *believe* they were museum only but you may be able to make a case. I am pretty sure I saw Snider on the list too.

Shoot me a PM and I can pass on what I remember from looking into it about 3 years back.

they are on Museum SNACs.

that said, have you considered contacting the local Mil museums? they can loan some out for parades and such. the Petawawa Museum has close to 15 Enfield's from snider to No5.

This might be heresy on CGN, but for display purposes, you may be still able to find airsoft versions. http://www.evike.com/product_info.php?products_id=41725

I'd try some of the bigger and better airsoft suppliers in Canada.
I think you have the right idea that or get resin replicas made or purchased, being a CAF unit I cannot see any issues about "replicas" and them legally having for this activity. Airsoft "guns" honestly some of them are pretty damn good appearance wise if its just stuck in a scabbard.

Before I got my RPAL, I bought an Airsoft AR, and an MP5. In appearance and weight they're very convincing. Especially if they just stay in the scabbard.

why don't you just march into zipperhead's office ,and tell him that you need the rifles, and he has to make it happen. LOL
there are lots of enfields still in the system. and there going to be written off once the rangers get there new rifle .

Those are No 4's, not the No I Mk III's that the OP is looking for.

Thank you Gaff. I am going to be giggling like a little girl all Sunday for this.
it is funny , because he actually knows who to call . this could be done with two phone calls. one to our friend and one to NDHQ .
the LDSH have there own museum ,they can also get the right rifles ,released from storage and put on there DA. required for museum historical reenactments.
