Well since I got no responce under Hunting & Sporting I thought I'd try this here. Surely someone else has the same problem, looks like might be an easy fix!

Thats a .223 & a 22-250!
Typical of a manufacturer I suppose to make a .223 1-8 twist designed around longer heavier bullets then choking up the mag so they won't fit unless seated way to deep in the case!
Anyway, somebody...anybody with both of these guns, would you please try the 22-250 mag in the 223 & make sure it cycles & feeds ok before I spend the $$ to buy one so I can load those nice 75gn A-maxs.

I don't have the tikka 22-250 but I do have the 1-8 .223,I load 77 scenars 2.264 oal, i just measued and have another.05 that I can go.

scenars are the HPBT bullet manufactured by lapua. Not sure as to your main question, but reading on other threads about this problem with tikkas, I have not seen your suggestion pop up. I am assuming it does not work, as I'm sure it would have been proposed by now...

From my amazing powers of deduction  here's what I found out.
I got hold of an 30-06 mag, it of course fits right in, the shell block is apparently the only diff. Unfortunatly the ears are to wide to hold the 223 case in. Tikka uses the same mag for 22-250 as the 308 so it wouldn't hold the 223 cases either :(
I had so much hope since the 22-250 case fits so nice in a 223 mag.
I saw on another forum where guys are dremaling the mag to accept longer loaded bullet but I don't know how they can do it with such a thin plastic block.

Another more expensive option to consider. There are aftermarket bottom metals out there for the T3s which are designed to accept AI mags that have the space for the longer bullets.

I would try to modify the current mag first, it might not end up pretty but you won't see the hack job while the mag is seated.
