Hi all,
Last week-end when the wife asking me to do some cleaning in my shooting looker I found 2 cans of 1 pounds each of IMR 4064. I remerber that I bought this powder some years ago and just forgot it.....By the way, I am just looking to buy some IMR 3031 to reload my M94 Centennial Octagonal 26 in.barrel in 30-30.
Euh....maybe I can used that IMR 4064 in my M94 30-30 ?
I will use Bullet Barn 165gr RN......and I thing to start with 29gr ?
Any sugestion ?
Thanks to all.

My old model 94 liked 33g of 4064 and a Sierra 170g bullet best of all. It had 5 shots in a tight little cluster at 50 yards, and they traveled at 2185 fps. I use 36g with a 150g bullet in my bolt action Savage 340 for a velosity of 2365 fps.

IMR4064 is too slow for cast bullets.

Good shooting and the speed is about what one would project from looking at the Hodgdon site.
They show a max of 31.7 grains of 4064 with a 170 grain bullet for 2090 fps.
I just came from my reloading bench where I was getting 30-30 ready to load with factory 170 grain. I don't have 4064, but I am deciding between 4320 and 4895. I don't think I have any 3031, or I would load the classic, 30 grains of 3031.
I built a post front sight for my pre 64 with a Lyman aperature and want to sight it in.
