I bought a bunch of the 245gr coated bullets and they just do not work in my rifles. Cannot work out why they seem to be unstable, even in 1:8 bore.I use 210 and 245 grain cast bullets because they are cheap and work well enough for me.
I think the 220gr ballistic tips were designed for 300blk & to expand down to 800fps impact velocity. The Hornady Sub-X is the only commercial bullet intended to expand at subsonic velocity. They seem to be very difficult to find in any quantity.
There is no need to use very heavy and very expensive 200+ gr bullets in a 300 BLK. I've been reloading 150gr FMJ into subs for both bolt gun and semi-auto for many years. The bullets are easy to find and much less expensive than the big, heavy match bullets. There is no advantage to very heavy bullets for subsonics.
My barrel is 1:7. I don't think 1:8 is fast enough. 210 should be fine. I used to shoot those out of my .308 with trailboss and they worked (1:10).I bought a bunch of the 245gr coated bullets and they just do not work in my rifles. Cannot work out why they seem to be unstable, even in 1:8 bore.
I have nearly 300 of the 245gr.My barrel is 1:7. I don't think 1:8 is fast enough. 210 should be fine. I used to shoot those out of my .308 with trailboss and they worked (1:10).
