I try to use H4895 in my 308 semi autos, many powders will work though. Varget usually gives good results as welll.
Buy a reloading manual and work up a load.
Perceived recoil shouldn't be any different across the load range, it's only a few hundred FPS difference between min and max.
If you just want someone else's load you must not be overly concerned with accuracy so I suggest just doing a very basic ladder and pick the best one.
Set bullet depth to whatever the listed COL is from the bullet manufacturer, that should usually provide for reliable feeding.
Full length size every time and test the brass for fit in the chamber and then again once loaded, if you're not sized correctly the brass will stick in the chamber when you push it in, same for loaded rounds, if they stick in the chamber the bullet is probably touching the lands.
