looking for 6.8 SPC FMJ

I guess it's a good news/ bad news sorta thing.

Bad news:
There's not many loads being done with FMJ bullets for 6.8 SPC. Remington, Bitterroot Valley, and Double Tap are the only ammo producers doing them that I'm aware of.
Remington is the only one that is ITAR licensed for export according to the list on Canadian black rifle mag.
Good news:
If your planning to put ammo up for a "just in case" thing, there are far better loads than FMJ available. It's worth your while to have a look at the 68forums or the terminal ballistics stickies at M4carbine. Tula and Federal have announced that they are both going to produce 6.8 ammo next year, with Federal dedicating an entire line to production. Should drop the prices to almost what .223/5.56 is going for.

If that happens, I'm going to take a hard look at getting a Tavor re-barreled and bolted to 68. It'd make a helluva bush gun for deer and yotes that I could afford to run for three gun.

I have never found any 1000 round bulk ammo in any bullet type for 6.8 SPC, the closest is 200 round cases and they are still about $250 per case, like most rounds your best bet is reloading, that's what I do. The best deal recently was when SFRC put their Remington FMJ and OTM 6.8 ammo on for just under $20 a box, it sold quick and I missed it.

I was thinking that since it was a military cartridge that ammo would be a bit easier to find. I guess not many, if any, of the services have adopted this cartridge, thus the lack of available ammo. I think I'll hold off and see what comes out next year. It might just be easier to get an XCR in 7.62 x 39. If **** really does hit the fan one day there will be lots of that ammo around.

An alternative to your dilemma might be reloading. Not everyone's thing I know. Bullets are not hard to find (.270 cal.) and there is quite a selection from 90-130 grs. I use Forster dies that I mail ordered; very good dies and not too expensive. Brass is getting easier to find. I have bought it at WSS and on the EE. I see Frontier Firearms has some nice Hornady match cases on sale. Powder selection is good as well. I have had some very good success accuracy wise reloading for far less than what is being charged for factory rounds. Just a thought.

BTW, I see SFRC sells Hornady 6.8 ammo for about $24 box.

Your best bet is probably reloading it. That's the path I'm going down, anyway - as all I can seem to find is hollowpoint and V-tip.

Henry Nyerchlo of Budget Shooter Supply has a good deal on Hornady bullets. About 3-4 bucks per hundred less than most other places. Interestingly enough, when I could find some Remington fmj's, they were more expensive than the VMax or Hornady 110 gr. HP's. Go figure.
