Looking for a .177 co2 pellet handgun

Whats out there thats actually good? Never had one. Been using my old ruger break berrel for years, many squirrels that are terrorizing the neighbourhood.

I had a few in the past, some of them were horrible (Crosman T4), but in the end the one I still have and still keep is a Beretta (rebadged Umarex) FS92. It is CO2 and has a 8-shot cylindrical magazine. Came in a nice hard case too. There was a similar Colt 1911 Government that I should have picked up as well. It was a bit picky on pellets from my experience, but the best performing were by far RWS .177 Meisterkugeln and RWS .177 Hobby.

Yes, for killing squirrels, a .177 handgun is useless (sorry, didn't read the part about using it as pest control). Even a sub-500 fps air rifle is relatively useless. You really should use a PAL rated 1000 FPS+ .177 break barrel rifle or a 700+ FPS .22 air rifle (CO2 or otherwise). I had a Stoeger X20 and a Gamo Hunter Extreme in .177 and both were good, but one was 1000+ FPS and the other was 1200+ FPS.

I have a Crosman Vantage Nitro in .177, PAL rated at about 1200fps. It's almost as loud as my .22s with SV ammo, so if you're looking for 'discreet' pest control you might be better served with a 'real gun' and subsonics. The Vantage (and similar Nitro models) run around $200 and so does a Savage 64 or MkII or Scorpio or Plinkster.

Get a Crosman 2240.
It has 60% more energy than a .177 pistol.
Most powerful airgun under 500 fps.
Cheap, upgradable, decently accurate.

I remember the CP88 was a very reliable and beautifully finished pistol with excellent single action trigger. Not sure if they are still made that way today though. I was very envoys of a friends when I shot co2 pellet pistols. As stated a 177 pistol wont do much against squirrels unless your goal is to frighten them with the noise as you enjoy some target shooting.

This is what I have, fully upgraded except for Lothar Walther target barrel. Custom black walnut grips, steel breech, LPA rear sight, trigger sear upgrade, pretty much all of Crosman's upgrade parts, basically. I don't shoot critters with it, but if I did/do, I'd feel more confident with the heavier 22cal pellets.

Thing is though, after all the upgrades my $80 2240 is now a $300 target pistol.

Gandalfe, I've read in other threads that even with the stock and long barrel the ponies consider it a pistol (cause thats how it began) so if you get it over 500 it's RPAL. I haven't checked but it makes sense - to the ponies at least.
