Hi everyone, i have a savage 111 in .270 Winchester. I'm looking to put a different scope on it it currently has a Bushnell banner dusk and dawn with illuminated BDC reticle 3x9x40mm. Problem is i find it to cluttered and the cross hair are thicker than i would like. So my question to you guys is in the $300 ish range which scope has a finer cross hair also looking for more eye relief if possible. As the banner is as far back as i can place it and i find i still have to move my head closer from my natural mount position to see through it clearly.

I know i'm limited for the money and do not expect an amazing scope for the price listed, i'm really just looking for a cleaner reticle, slightly better picture and possibly more eye relief. I have never used the illuminated reticle so do not care if it has one or not.

The redfield revolution is a better scope than the rifleman imo. I have had a burris fullfield II Ballistic plex 3-9x40 on my 270 for the past 10 yrs. Better reticle to me than the E1 reticle that they also have. There is a nice bushnell elite 3-9x40 on the EE right now for $225. Perfect for .270 imo.

That's good to hear Cabelas Canada had the Canadian vx2's for $299 as a boxing day sale, seemed like a good deal. Can't wait to check it out, I've never looked down a Leupold but always hear good things about them.

I just picked up a new VX-2 3-9x40 as well. Bought it to go on my new Ruger American .270. Looking forward to getting it sighted in and ready for next season. I ended up getting it for 300 at my local gun shop. Nice and bright. Very clear Optic (got the Wide Duplex recticle) and I like that the cross hairs are dark enough to acquire quickly but not in the way. Great reviews on these, great warranty.
I'm sure I will be happy with it

Cheers

I have the exact same rifle and I topped it off with a Nikon Prostaff 4-12x40(or 42...can't recall right now) with the BDC Reticle. Cost was around $250 and it was a huge improvement over the packaged Bushnell scope that came on it.

EDIT.....I see you bought a Leupold already. Well....when that one goes south on you take a look at the Nikon. ;)

I also have a Savage 111FLNS in 270. I would recommend a Bushnell Elite 2.5-10x42. I had one mounted on mine for a several years, they are a great scope that can be had for your budget in excellent used condition. Bright and clear, with generous eye relief. Bushnell's lifetime warranty makes buying Canadian market used scopes stress free. I would have kept it on the rifle but got a great deal on a Kahles.
