well the time has come to start looking for a 308 for long range shooting i am thinking of the ultimate 700 from the unamed precision rifle dealer i have been looking at the steyr and savage to does anyone else have suggestions for 1000m 308 rifle
I wouldn't trust a .308 past 600yds, but check out the Savage 10FP-LEA a nice kit all set to go for sniping. I think EllwoodEpps has one, at least a couple of montha ago it was there. Or slightly cheaper, no bipod or case etc. Get the Savage 10FP and put (the very excellent) Bushnel Elite fixed 10X30. use this rifle to perfect your reloads. (I forget the exact model # of the Bushnell, it is the fixed 10X with the mil-dot reticle)bigdawg said:well the time has come to start looking for a 308 for long range shooting i am thinking of the ultimate 700 from the unamed precision rifle dealer i have been looking at the steyr and savage to does anyone else have suggestions for 1000m 308 rifle

I have been leaning towards the Savage Model 10FP HS Precision – with AccuTrigger™
But I came across this rifle just recently, could be another great option, anybody have any comments on this one, and how is it VS. these 700's and Savys.
Given; I would say is the price difference, so no need to beat that around.

The 308 is still competitive at 1,000, it's just not the favorite flavour these days.

And I'm sure there have been a vast number of people that had wished they'd been more than 600 yards away from an M40jennis said:Im sure there are few people who wished they had been a little further than 600 yards after receiving a burst from a C6![]()
