I also think that a 410 is not a great way to start out a kid shooting things that fly. A 410 can frustrate even the most experienced shooter!
Those shortened single shots can then become your kids quad/truck gun when they get bigger than Dad.As far as the 20 ga goes. For upland game, some around here use a light 12 ga. with 1 3/4" mini shells. Even less recoil than a very light 20 ga. load. You can cut them single shoot Cooeys to a perfect fit for the kids without worrying loosing much money and the gun will fit them well if done right.
Those shortened single shots can then become your kids quad/truck gun when they get bigger than Dad.
They will always have a use for a handy little shotgun.
