I love the Norinco ammo price. I know it isn't match grade ammo, however I have the SU-16 and really like the low weight.
I'm looking for a new gun that groups tighter and at longer distances. 400+ yds would be great!
Bolt action is fine if it lowers the price. I bullpup design like the Type 88, would be awesome but $3000 is abit out of my budget.
Anything under $2000 new? Would a custom build be an option?
Thanks for your time!!

"...bullpup design..." Most of 'em are evil prohibited firearms.
"...5.56 x 45..." That'd be a standard .223 Remington. Pick one from any manufacturer in a 'Varmint' model. 400 yards is optimistic, but doable, though.
"...a custom build..." Not for under 2 grand.

From my understanding , shooting Norinco 5.56 out of a .223 is a bad idea. If it's marked to handle both, then awesome!
So as it stands I don't know what rifles to look at.

If you want accuracy at distance, don't use ball ammo. Reload a quality bullet with consistent powders and primers. It is way too expensive to miss or have minute of mountain accuracy.

You can put together a full on competition FTR rig for $2000 so you have a lot of leeway in your end result.

Most Factory 223 Rem chambers are long in the throat so could work with 5.56 NATO ammo BUT that is money wasted as it is highly unlikely you will see any degree of accuracy with Norc milspec ammo.

Something like Win white box varmint ammo should outshoot the Norc and isn't that much more money.

Thanks Jerry, Ironically I was going to post that I was going to give you or ATRS a shout and see what you can come up with.
I'm very cheap, shooting norinco and a su16 speaks volumes.
Anyway thanks
