looking for a 6mm suggestion

Was rifle i built while in Georgia with Robert Gradous. Surgeon 591 with a heavy brux 7 twist. First 3 down the barrel after a few foulers were .063 and it has been a demon since day one..love the little 243 but i know the 6 xc we built for prs comps in Washington in april seem to be doing well too. Can routinely plant 7 under the head of a deck screw...sub .128 ". At 1115 m they can post 3 inch groups. Very fortunate to have learned from one of Americas best we feel. Anytime ya wanna shoot it swing on by dude...i see your in alberta as well so never that far away. Ammo is always loaded up for a free moment to sneak out of the shop not that a gun guy needs an excuse to get out shooting

Furtaker - What Range do you shoot at ... I can get cheap seats with AC so may get by your way if you are in Canada. Those 1115M groups would be something to see. At the 2015 IBRSA Nationals in 2015, nobody agg'd under 4" at 1000 yds. You will need to do the shooting as I'd need a barn at that distance:)

Dude...I am right here in old beat up and hurting Alberta :)
We shoot at private ranges and could always shoot a bite for ya but could always put ya behind a rig and let ya rip a few down range.

I shoot a fair bit so don't need to shoot any more, I just want to see someone shoot world class groups with a 243. Which private range?

6mm-284...really nicely balanced and accurate cartridge... the .284 case is pretty nice @ 6.5mm also...

Lol, don't do it JEC, you will leave with a rifle... that's exactly what happened to me. Tried out a loaner and couldn't give it back as it was the best shooting rifle I'd ever touched, or even seen.
The rifles are world class for sure, but Furtaker is too modest, he can also crank out groups like a freaking robot.
Make the trip, it will certainly raise your eyebrows, furry has a direct line to the best and brightest in the North American precision rifle scene. Don't let his casual correspondence on cgn fool you, there's some high level stuff going on there.

I would have no problem with a 243 that shot consistently under 0.2 @100M. Would give me a reason to sell the 30 barrels in my safe that don't:) Of course, I am possibly part of the problem.

Your right...i say blue then..no wait... red
Just do what ever has good available brass. Any 6 or 6.5 will shoot very well and just when you think you have the ultimate best round there is along comes another wildcalt and ruins that idea
Pick one and go with it dude
Shoot and have fun

I'm pretty happy with my 6x47 Lapua we built. Very easy to load for. Getting 3030fps with 105 Scenars. But to be honest, once the barrel is burnt off, I will be going back to a 6.5mm. I like to hear that steel ring.

WOW.... please contact the Captain of the Cdn National F class team program.. We need your services. Fantastic stuff.

3" at 1115m or roughly 1227yds... so that means you would be around 2.5" at 900m all day long. Freaking amazing. Insight Arms and you need to start putting stuff together for the National program.

Hey, there is a little game that some are playing on here 5 groups of 5 rds on 1 target at 100yds and 300m. With the results you are getting, this would be a breeze and really put Insight Arms on the map

I would be very excited to see the results. Always looking at the best way to put bullets on target.... and am very serious about that.

Jerry

PS, really liking my 6XC and waiting on a 6.5 Creedmoor for my Rem 783 build. 243 is also alot of fun and certainly easier to set up.

i know some words are kinda big Jerry so i will explain...Routinely doesnt mean all day...k
And when you say "We" i assume you finally got on the list and arent on the waiting list any longer...good stuff for you but i think a lot of other smiths have the F class scene covered so we will stick to our tactical working guns. Accuracy of the guns will be all i need to be on a map if that is even important and not acknowledgment on your behalf. You best just stay in your little pond where your safe and keep the posts coming..11,646 is just around the corner..you go little guy.

For some reason or another the Canadian shooting community seems to be solely focused on how tight of a group one shoots, this is what seems to be what the difference is of putting together a 0.2" and less and carrying that same accuracy to distances of 1000 meters and greater, last I checked wind reading played a huge part in all of it....even on 100m grouping days, so with saying that if you're having good wind call days it is very possible to post 3 inch groups or less at over 1000m, even the newest of shooters are capable of such feats. I agree that Insite Arms builds a very accurate system, my 6xc put together a nice 0.132" group today as it has in the past, I don't need to post up a group to the "it does it all day long page" as some days are calm shooting days with no wind which are rare and some are 3-7 mph wind days and if all is going good a 0.3" group is stellar for the day. I am just a regular guy that likes to shoot and am passionate for the knowledge that can be attained from all disaplines of shooting, I have like most on here no "NATIONAL RECOGNITION" nor do I care to, but Jerry I am tired of your sarcasm and suggestions of what is good and what is not and what people shoot do as we'll as giving advice on certain disaplines you have only read about and how you like to seemingly call others out to play at your disaplines as you said "we need your services"....well I am gonna do the exact same to you and call you out infront of everyone on CGN,....June 24-26 2016 Sniper's Hide Cup Colville Washington bring your 783 Remington and let's get at it, you vs me, if I lose to you I will buy a 783 Remington and run it at comps for one year, if I have a good day and edge a win over you, you buy a rifle from Insite Arms and do the same run it at comps for a year....I don't want any reply to this in any form PM or otherwise, other than you accept or decline the call, either way I will respect your decision with no explanation needed.

"You best just stay in your little pond where your safe and keep the posts coming"... REALLY?!!

Are we back to elementary school yard politics?

Or do you assume I have no experience working with mag fed "tactical" style rifles?

But we will let your rifles speak for themself... good point.

All the best and look forward to your customers doing great in any discipline they choose to play in. Always great to have more builders of accurate rifles.

Jerry
