looking for a 6mm suggestion

For some reason or another the Canadian shooting community seems to be solely focused on how tight of a group one shoots, this is what seems to be what the difference is of putting together a 0.2" and less and carrying that same accuracy to distances of 1000 meters and greater, last I checked wind reading played a huge part in all of it....even on 100m grouping days, so with saying that if you're having good wind call days it is very possible to post 3 inch groups or less at over 1000m, even the newest of shooters are capable of such feats. I agree that Insite Arms builds a very accurate system, my 6xc put together a nice 0.132" group today as it has in the past, I don't need to post up a group to the "it does it all day long page" as some days are calm shooting days with no wind which are rare and some are 3-7 mph wind days and if all is going good a 0.3" group is stellar for the day. I am just a regular guy that likes to shoot and am passionate for the knowledge that can be attained from all disaplines of shooting, I have like most on here no "NATIONAL RECOGNITION" nor do I care to, but Jerry I am tired of your sarcasm and suggestions of what is good and what is not and what people shoot do as we'll as giving advice on certain disaplines you have only read about and how you like to seemingly call others out to play at your disaplines as you said "we need your services"....well I am gonna do the exact same to you and call you out infront of everyone on CGN,....June 24-26 2016 Sniper's Hide Cup Colville Washington bring your 783 Remington and let's get at it, you vs me, if I lose to you I will buy a 783 Remington and run it at comps for one year, if I have a good day and edge a win over you, you buy a rifle from Insite Arms and do the same run it at comps for a year....I don't want any reply to this in any form PM or otherwise, other than you accept or decline the call, either way I will respect your decision with no explanation needed.

I can't speak for the rest of the Cdn community but you are in the Target and precision forum where we ARE interested in pushing the mechanical limits of our rigs..... Why?

Cause we know and pay a great deal of respect to the winds. Anything that can help us reduce our cone of accuracy pays dividends in higher scores and/or smaller groups

I am thrilled that your rifle is shooting well...Anytime you can drill them into one hole, its a great feeling and should be celebrated.... so congrats.

How's it average on a good day?

PRS is a very interesting format for me and harkens back to my early days of precision shooting. Many years and a bunch more lbs later, the dynamic nature of the sport will cause problems but it is a great reason to get back into the gym.

I think they are about to start a "seniors" division... that'll work

Finding out how many matches are held in Washington state is fantastic and I look forward to getting to a few after my FTR obligations are done

See you there.

Jerry

Oh so your not gonna accept the challenge then. Enough said

I am feeling all 12 yrs old :)

If this is going to be into childish things, then I look forward to these rifles come on out to any mid or long range F class match. I gotta be at a bunch... even Washington if someone wants to travel. Happy to set up a time except the Westerns... I will be at the Nationals instead.

Kamloops would be pretty central. Around me, plenty of room to shoot LR... camp out at my place.

No Challenge, no fanfare, not some "who's bigger then who" nonsense... just LR shooters who want to see how good things can be.

Believe when I say, this is a serious offer cause the ability to raise the bar on LR performance is something many of us are looking for... heaven knows we have spent enough money in this quest.

If this work improves on what we have, I will be more then happy to have another rifle built tout suite.

Hey, it can also be completely off the books.... really

Besides, with my current state of shape, running and gunning will likely lead to a coronary so what have we proven... out of breath, middle age guy falling off some obsticle... Yeah, I would be that guy... there you win... happy?

But the real question is how do these rifles shoot..... so let's shoot them.

PM or email and it will be off the books.... interested?

Jerry

I do shoot one regularly, I don't need to prove it to anybody and I wasn't the one that was called out. Now I'm sure your busy with your national something of another do I'm gonna just leave it at that.

Ummm....so....is there anybody who's shoot the 6mm slr and the 6mm xc? Be curious if there s a consensus on which one might be a better long distance round? At 1000 meters and over? Or too close to call?

Only advantage to the slr is brass is easier to come by and it's cheaper. Just run 243 win brass through the slr die and giver. Norma 6xc brass is costly but very good quality. ImageUploadedByCanadianGunNutz1459914500.181331.jpg
Here is a group I shot the other day out of one of my 6xc's.

Holy that's fantastic shooting! Hope I can get that good one day...
Just got my order of 500 virgin Win .243 brass and DTAC 115gr on my desk today. Waiting for the dies and have a barrel on order with the guys at Insite.

Doing some load testing to try IMR 4166 in my last Dasher in a LR Hunter stock / light palma barrel. 3's pretty repeatable, of course would improve with a better shooter that didn't pull one in every group:) Going back to Varget. Chambered by Karl Schmidt who is back gunsmithing.

Spectacular thread. Anyway, many of the 6's and 6.5's are wickedly accurate - for belly shooting my F/Open in 6mmBR takes some beating and my .260 serves me well when I shoot off of less conventional positions. Were it me - and I was looking at a tactical, mag fed build I would take a very hard look at the 6.5x47; seems like the cartridge du jour in PRS right now.

Does the 6.5x47 feed well in Semi's???

No first-hand experience but I haven't read anything to suggest otherwise. Honestly, when offering opinions etc on this forum I am always thinking of bolt guns though I do understand that there are some accurate semi's out there that can be considered precision rifles.
