Looking for a black hunting rifle for deer in BC.

Looking for a "tactical" that will humanly down a deer. 556 will leave no meat left I hear. Would 223 be better? Any thoughts?

As said look for a larger caliber. I do not shoot a black gun( except a 10/22) but more power is better. Lots of tactical bolt 308 and if you plan on bigger game there is the 300 win mag.
