Looking for a good Stockmaker

Good day folks,

I am looking for a competent Stockmaker that has some time to re-stock one rifle and two SXS shotguns. I have purchased the wood stocks - Exhibition grade Bastogne - and the stocks are already semi inletted. I am willing to pay a fair price for a fair job.
Like many other people looking to get a rifle/shotgun custom-ish made, I have been in touch with numerous professional Stockmakers across western Canada and it seems that most are not doing stock work any more (for health reasons, retired, etc). I have even written several people on the gunnutz website who are building stocks, but even their waiting period is extensive.
If there is anyone here that has a fair amount of experience and feels competent to do some nice work, please pm me.

Try bobfortier, a member here: he does some excellent f-class and hunter style stocks and he did a very nice stock for a SxS this winter.

He is closed on Sundays and Modays.

Try Frank Ryan in Fonthill Ontario, he's one of the best 905 892 6962

I think Frank is all but retired, his shop is only open a few hours a week the past 10-12 years. He is one of the last true gunsmiths around though.

What model is the rifle? Shotguns? Who's semi inlets. Some folks will do rifles and not SxS therefore you may be better to split the package. Anybody doing restocking generally has a backlog. A couple of these guys list are 2 years. Do you want these just fitted ? or finished and checkered?

The rifle is an Interarms Mark X in 300 Win Mag and a Whitworth barrel, the shotguns are a Savage 311 and Fox Model B.
I would like to get them fitted and finished, and possibly some checkering.
I bought the stocks from Dave Monk in Minnesota and he also inletted them. Dave has been doing this for many, many years. He in not on this website, but he can supply some great looking wood for stocks at a very decent price.

Yea, I stopped in and saw Cary this spring. Sadly he had a heart attack last year and is not longer able to do any stock work. Too bad as he was so good!!

That really sucks. Very talented guy. Must have been a hell of a bad heart attack to stop him from stockmaking.
