Looking at buying/building a 10/22 ultralight compact gun for gopher shooting.
I've seen the ch22 and a few other recievers. I like the tacsol 1lbs barrel and axiom stock combo.
Just need a reciever and internals.
What do you guys think?
Thanks for your time.
What is a fair price on a used 10/22 reciever? I've been offered $225 and up for used stuff :[

The standard ruger receiver is probably going to be the lightest, as it doesn't have a integrated rail or a charging handle like the ch22.
I got a used dlask receiver and barrel for 250 of the EE.
If you want a light weight why don't you check out the Magnum research 22 light weights I've seen at the gun shows around Alberta. They come with the axiom stock and there graphite sleeved Barrel.

I have a Magnum research ultralight 22WMR it weighs 4.4 pounds.

I was thinking of a dlask 8.5" barrel to make it really compact but I've heard its really heavy. I also have heard that the tacsol barrel is as light as they come. Wish they had a short barrel vetsion.

Ask Dlask if they will make you a short sporter contour barrel. Even a short heavy barrel is, as the name suggests, heavy. Comparable to an 18.5" sporter barrel. Contour is the biggest determining factor in barrel weight for a given material. The OE Ruger receiver will be about as light as it gets. Other are beefed up, some have machined in rails etc. Just find a carbine brand new and sell the OE parts on the EE. No reason to pay someone the full price of a brand new rifle for some used parts off it. Shop around and you can find brand new 10/22s for $230 or so. Sell the barrel for $30 and the stock for $30 and you're under $200 for a brand new action, taxes in. BTW Dlask's custom work on production barrels is cheap!

To me it's more about the balance of the rifle as opposed to weight. I haven't weighed my rifle yet but it's light enough to shoot off hand for hours, and packing it around... Is nothing.... It's a dlask 12.5" factory contour barrel, factory receiver, and hogue stock (for the factory profile barrel of course). And I love it!

Me? Lol

To be honest I have no idea as I don't have an appropriate scale. However I can hold it in front of my chest pointing at the floor between my thumb and my pinky, and I have small weak hands haha.

I'd guess around 4.5 lbs
