im looking for a new glass for my 223 target rifle my budget is a little tight im looking at a NIKON MONARCH III 6-24 X 50MM they have this at a local store for 599.99 does anybody here use nikon scopes? I know the cameras are good but i have never used any of there optics

another choice i had was a burris XTR Tactical Riflescope 6X-24X-50mm no one has stock and stoger says it will be available around september ( not going to hold my breath)
once again anybody running these on they're rigs and if so how do you like them ?
cheers and thanks

its a savage action with a bullbarrel 1in9 twist fluted stock is bedded with a harris bipod i have a bushnell 3x9x40 3200 bone collector but the scope isnt doing the rifle justice so its going on my .22lr and now im looking for a new glass to top of the .223

When you mentioned budget conscious and added the $599 and then followed with the XTR I got a little confused. Is the XTR not $1000 plus optic? If so and your budget allows an increase the offerings from Sightrons can't be beat. I've used both the Siii 6-24x and 8-32x and they have been excellent in both tracking and clarity.

I believe North shore barrels and mystic prescision both carry sightron scopes.
I had a Nikon on a target/gopher rifle and was quite happy with the glass, but it had a thick BDC reticle that I found too thick for gopher shooting so I went to a leupold with a fine duplex reticle.

I have just bought a Falcon Menace 4-14x44mm scope. If your budget is around $500 I would strongly recommend this scope. There are a couple in the equipment exchange right now. But if you want to buy new check out Frontier Firearms. (http://frontierfirearms.ca/) they sell them. These scopes are common in Europe for long range competition shooting. you would be very hard pressed to find a scope as good as these for the price. they also have the milRAD reticle and MilRAD turrets. (about time plp figured it out to match reticles to turrets. lol)

I agree Darcy is a great guy. Just bought a Ruger 10/22 from him a month ago. You live by maple creek? good hunting around cypress hills area, and in the Mille by Fox Valley.

For sightron products, call Darcy at Bowyer's Outdoor Sports. Best prices and good guy to deal with (306-662-3267)

Well after much time spent looking around and banging my head on the computers keyboard I final found my scope picked up a brand new burris black diamond 4X16X50 that a supplier had sitting in a self covered in dust somewhere in the back store got that and a set of burris xtreme tactical 30mm high rings for 650$ plus taxes. Final
The search is over, I can final sleep without dreaming of optics
Chasing me

Once I get it mounted ill post some pics of the end result

Nikon
Excellent value for the money and if you are on a budget their line called Buckmaster are great scopes. I have had and still use several of these fine 6-18x scopes. i do have an older Monarch in the 5-20x. I never understood the desire to have a 50mm bell on a scope your are shooting at the range in very good light conditions. FS

Nikon are great scopes for the money, but you wont be sorry getting a Sightron, just the plain best scope out there, call Clay @ Prophet, he will make a great price... JP.

"...used any of theire optics..." If you've used their cameras, you've used their optics.
"...the scope isnt doing the rifle justice..." A scope does nothing but let you see the target better. Depending on what you're doing with the rifle take the weight and size of any scope into consideration. A 50mm front lense may require a high ring just to clear the barrel. That may put the scope too high for your eye and your cheek will be in the wrong place.
A 3 to 9 x 40 on a .22 is a waste of glass. I think you can find rings that will go on it, but it's over kill.
